About
Yongbin Wang started his postdoctoral research with Professor Bin Tan at the Department of Chemistry, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in 2015. He currently serves as a Research Professor at the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute, SUSTech. His research focuses on innovative asymmetric organocatalysis, striving to overcome core limitations of conventional catalytic activation. He has developed a creative strategy ofdirecting group activation to remodel reaction-site chemical properties and established a suite of original organocatalytic systems. His research solves key challenges in the catalytic activation and asymmetric transformation of alkynes, alkenes and aromatics, enabling precise construction of versatile chiral molecules, with milestone achievements in axially chiral alkene synthesis. Furthermore, he has proposed an innovative photocatalytic paradigm, relay energy transfer catalysis. This strategy resolves the energy transfer bottleneck arising from catalyst isolation in asymmetric photocatalysis, greatly broadening the applicability of organocatalysis and asymmetric energy-transfer photocatalysis, and providing novel principles for advanced asymmetric catalytic system design.
